Found this as I was researching a free operating system called "DreamLinux". Basically a very pretty version of Debian Linux that looks and acts a lot like Mac OSX. Kino will do pretty much any basic editing task with DV and does it for FREE. Your chance to learn, just do some basic research on how easy it is to "dual boot" Windows and Linux with partitions on your hard drive.
