Why become an NIFP member?
NIFP meetings
NIFP hosts regular social meetings where we discuss all aspects of independent filmmaking. We have special quests come in and speak about past, present and future projects. We have showings of local and regional films to see what other filmmakers in Nebraska are creating. We discuss numerous topics at every meeting and it is an excellent way to make those "connections" you always hear about.
Getting on the E-List
Monthly reminders of meetings, email updates containing info on local workshops, festivals and competitions. Also gives members the opportunity to be a part of a filmmaking community even if limited by time or distance. Members can e-mail questions, submit info to be posted on NIFP's website and pass on information to other members through a moderator.
Workshop and Seminar Discounts
Past seminars have been held on screenwriting, the use of stock footage, audio for film and video, and lighting. Workshops. They are taught by industry professionals from both in and out of state. NIFP members receive a substantial discount off the workshop or seminar fee.
Middle of Nowhere Short Film Competition
I make movies in Nebraska! Where in the heck is Nebraska? Well, in the middle of Nowhere! That's why we have a short Film Competition put on by NIFP for Nebraska films only. This festival was designed to inspire local filmmakers to create films and give them a venue to show them off. This competition is held every other year.
Mad Movie Night
Occasionally NIFP holds Mad Movie Nights to entertain. This is an evening of short films by NIFP members and national artists. The event is a very fun and comical night of entertainment, commonly held in a bar to get everyone "in the mood." See films like "the Playground," "Dog Eat Dog," "Pop Gun," and "Frog Pituitary." Don't miss one of these or you'll regret it!
NIFP.org Discussion Forum
Need help? Well this isn't Hollywood so we don't have shrinks here! But we do have Actors, Techies and Directors! Post your needs, desires, questions, and make contacts with others. Use it for just about anything film related.
Fiscal Sponsorship
NIFP accepts member proposals for fiscal sponsorship. Upon review and approval by a screening committee and the full board, NIFP-sponsored projects benefit from the organization's tax-exempt status to raise production funds.
