Actor opportunity

I received this recently and thought it was a great opportunity for those actors on our member list. If anyone goes, let me know how it was...I can't go. :(

(Hey, Rhett...maybe we could line up a guest speaker like this for all our untapped actor members.)

AUDITION TECHNIQUE FOR FILM AND TV
Date: Friday, Dec. 30 and Saturday, Dec. 31, 2005

This 2-day intensive “audition technique” workshop designed for professional actors offers a pragmatic and comprehensive look at the how-to’s of auditioning for film and television. This course in LA or NY is $800.

In this unique 2-day course, actors gain practical experience in integrating technique with the organic process. Participants will learn to analyze story structure and “break down the sides.” Through analysis, actors will discover internalized history emerges effortlessly and naturally within the audition, without becoming a technical obligation. Finally, “memorizing the words” is replaced by a procedure that frees the actor to access his/her intellectual, emotional and spiritual sensibilities and use them to fully explore and play within the material. The actor is able to “feel the lines by heart” and take ownership in them. This work allows each actor’s own spontaneous reactions, as well as their individual, flawed and multi-faceted personalities to come through their character in appropriate but totally unique and unpredictable ways.
Each student will practice this art of cold-reading by taking part in simulated auditions using film and television scenes. The scenes are filmed for video playback, which is constructively critiqued by Crystal Carson, Professional Hollywood Acting Coach. Crystal recently was hired by FOX-TV as the on-set coach for the episodic, “The Inside”, she also privately coaches over 30 working actors in Los Angeles, including Paula Abdul, Jennifer Beals (L Word), David Boreanaz (Bones), Vanessa Marcil (Las Vegas), Rachel Nichols (Alias, Amityville Horror), Tricia Helfer (Battlestar Galactica, Memorie), Brian White (The Shield, Second Time Around, Mr. 3000), Brittney Daniel (North Shore, Joe Dirt, White Chicks), Ross Patterson (The New Guy, American Pie, House of the Dead 2, The Darwin Awards) to name just a few.
