Hollywood film shoots in Sandy Creek

A Hollywood screenwriter teams up with a former Nebraska football coach for a documentary film. Lew Hunter and Tom Osborne are working on a film called "Once in a Blue Moon." Friday, they filmed one segment at Sandy Creek High School. By Denise Booker.

Tom and Lew spoke to 280 students about meth and other drugs Friday.
It is a topic they have spent a great amount of time on in the past raising awareness at different schools.

And it is a part of Hunter's life the director says he wanted to highlight in the film.

He has created top Hollywood hits such as Batman, Spiderman, Bewitched and Bonaza just to name a few. Not only was he a top exec at the studios in Hollywood and master screenwriter but he also was there to help children and anybody else that wanted his help.

Friday's segment is the 3rd act of the film that shows how Lew Hunter and Tom Osborne have been involved with students speaking to them about meth, underage drinking and drugs.

"We hope that they will come to realize that meth is addictive sometimes with just one use and of course it is one way to huge problems," said Osborne.

Director, Loonie Senstock says they have traveled all around the world to film the story of Lew Hunter. Friday the film is in its 23rd month and Senstock says it was important to film a segment here in Nebraska.

"It means a lot to me because the school that I am standing at now gave me a lot when I was young. Lew Hunter did not have a lot when he grew up," said Senstock.

"I want people to say wow that was a really good use of my time rather than say oh my God I spent an hour and half with this turkey," Hunter said.

There is only a month left of filming and Hunter says he thinks the people will walk way with some form of inspiration.

"It can show people that hey if this turkey can do it I think I can do some things," said Hunter.

They hope to have the film finished by this April.

The cast includes Patty Duke and Miss New York from VH1 Fame. Oliver Stone is also a director and writer in the film.
