This is a message from the 2nd Annual South Dakota Film Festival. Here in South Dakota we are looking for additional ways to allow independent filmmakers to have an outlet to show others their creative talent. Because of this, we have created a new and exciting festival that celebrates not only films shot in the Great Plains, but also those from around the world as 17 states and 3 countries were represented last year. We are asking for your help to get the word out on the newest film festival in South Dakota.
If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to write to troy@mcquillendesign.com . Any questions about our call for submissions or the festival itself please visit www.southdakotafilmfest.org or call Troy McQuillen at 605-226-3481.
Thanks again,
Leah Tetzlaff

ABERDEEN, S.D. – Submissions being accepted until June 30th, for the second annual South Dakota Film Festival to be held in Aberdeen, September 19-21.
Film and completed submission form must be received by 11:59 PM on June 30th, 2008, with three screener copies of the film labeled with Producer, Director and/or Production Company and contact information. Any promotional material including stills, behind the scenes images or footage, trailers, press kit materials must also be included.
Last year, the South Dakota Film Festival had over 70 short or feature length films submitted in the categories of narrative, documentary and animation.
“Filmmakers should take advantage of our online submission form on our website,” said Troy McQuillen, Co-producer of the event. “It’s quick and a good way to make sure they make the deadline.”
McQuillen also stated anyone with questions about submissions can contact Tom Black immediately at 605-216-6650. Black is another Co-producer of the event and will help with questions and concerns.
The filmmakers have the opportunity to submit online on a regional, national and international level. Last years event hosted films from seventeen states and three countries. The films may have been created at any point in time and filmmakers can submit numerous films at once, but they must be submitted by the deadline of June 30th in order to be included in this years lineup.
All films chosen from the eligible submissions will be screened to the public during the festival’s three-day run. The South Dakota Film Festival will culminate in an awards ceremony and after-glow party.
Additional information, including all necessary forms for online submissions, rules and guidelines, ticket information and other information about the festival may be obtained by visiting www.southdakotafilmfest.org.
