Nebraska Tourism launches Byway podcasts
Series of nine podcasts, selection of brochures at VisitNebraska.gov

LINCOLN, NEB. (Jan. 28, 2009)—If you’ve seen a bright red SUV rolling off the beaten path around Nebraska, then you’ve already got a hint about Nebraska Tourism’s newest interactive feature: the 2009 Nebraska Byways podcast series.

The nine new videos follow host Rick Folten as he travels along each of Nebraska’s nine scenic byways. Each video is about four minutes long and introduces viewers to some of the best attractions and natural beauty Nebraska has to offer. Videos for the podcast series were produced through a grant from the Federal Highway Administration’s National Scenic Byway Program and are designed to be downloaded and viewed on any computer or portable digital media player.

Aside from being a fun way to educate non-Nebraskans and state residents alike, the Web-delivered technology will also maximize the value of the state’s marketing budget.

“Integrating podcasts into our Web site makes it easier for visitors and Nebraskans to see what a great place it is,” said Christian Hornbaker, director of the Department of Economic Development’s Travel and Tourism Division.
