Omaha Film Festival - two events in May

Greetings filmmakers, screenwriters and film enthusiasts (and anyone else looking for something fun to do on a Saturday night),

There are two exciting events coming up by the folks at the Omaha Film Festival.

First, it’s time for another open house/mixer/summit meeting at the Omaha Film Festival OFFice at 2626 Harney Street in Omaha, NE on Saturday evening, May 15th from 6:00pm to 9:00pm at the beautiful North Sea Films building.

As part of the evening’s festivities, we will be officially opening our CALL FOR ENTRIES for the 2011 Omaha Film Festival. As a special treat, we will offer a $5.00 discount off of our early entry fee for that night only for films and screenplays. Entry forms will be available at the party or can be provided beforehand upon request. Prices will be listed on the website before the summit.

For those interested, we will let people in attendance “look behind the curtain” and we will talk about our judging process. The monthly screening series “Third Thursdays” will also be discussed and we will have trailers available for the upcoming May 20th and June 17th shows. During this discussion time, we want to make the floor available to talk about anything film and art related so feel free to bring your promotional materials for any upcoming projects and we’ll make a table available and provide an opportunity for people to exchange ideas and information.

And since it’s an Omaha Film Festival party, you can bet our good friends from Lucky Bucket and Soaring Wings will be well represented! We’ll have another raffle drawing as well, giving away some OFF t-shirts, canvas bags, passes to OFF’11, free tickets to our Third Thursday screening, movie posters, and some other cool items, so come join the fun!

Then, on Thursday, May 20th at 7:00pm, the Omaha Film Festival will be screening the feature film “The Wild Hunt,” winner of the Audience Choice Award for Best Film and the Best Narrative Feature Award at the 2010 Slamdance Film Festival, and the Best Canadian First Feature Film at the 2009 Toronto International Film Festival. This will be the second in the THIRD THURSDAY screening series that takes place at the Great Escape Theatre in theater #1.

“The new Canadian action thriller "The Wild Hunt" is described as a 'modern medieval saga,' following 'Erik Magnusson,' a man who decides to follow his estranged girlfriend into a medieval re-enactment game, where he discovers that she has been seduced by one of the players.” "...As the down-to-earth Erik treks deeper into the game in search of his love, he inadvertently disrupts the delicate balance of the make-believe fantasyland. Passions are unleashed, rules are broken and the good-hearted game turns into a tragedy of mythic proportion..."

Prior to the screening of the feature film will be the award winning short film “The HIT,” written by Chris Zech and directed by Omaha Film Festival director Marc Longbrake.

Tickets available for only five dollars at the door. Come out and continue to support independent film.
