Description
Come enjoy our monthly networking events where filmmakers, film enthusiasts, and talent both in front and behind the camera come together to network, share ideas and help develop the foundation of filmmaking in Nebraska!
We are excited that Nebraska native, Alexander Payne won a Golden Globe this year for his movie, The Descendants, and we hope to be able to share some exciting news about his upcoming project entitled, NEBRASKA!
This month, there will be free appetizers (while it lasts), complements of your's truly. :-) We will be open to having food and drink sponsors for future events, so please let me know if you are interested.
Also, Bellevue Mayor, Rita Sanders will be in attendance to learn more about our efforts and to show her support for promoting film production in Nebraska! So mark your calendars! All are welcome, and we'll see you on February 1st at the Fox and Hound!
Omaha Film Festival Summit - Release Party 2012- Feb 11th
Posted January 30th, 2012 by DJRhettMCGreetings filmmakers, screenwriters and film enthusiasts,
Saturday evening, February 11th from 6:00pm to 11:00pm, come check out the beautiful North Sea Films building and visit the Omaha Film Festival folks to discuss the upcoming Seventh Annual Omaha Film Festival. There will be plenty of time to socialize and meet filmmakers, screenwriters and actors to discuss upcoming projects, and we’d like to take some time to talk about some festival specific topics.
For those in attendance, we will be unveiling our list of films for the first time to the general public, so this is your chance to be the first to know! As you know, we show some of the best independent feature films, documentaries, short films, animated shorts, and OFF the EDGE films every year, and we’re very excited about the films that we’ve chosen to showcase this year.

The US Premiere of 'Risen' the true life story of Welsh boxer Howard Winstone will happen on March 5th at 6.30pm as part of the prestigious Omaha Film Festival.
Heavyweight World Champion Leon Spinks, who has a cameo in the film, will be attending the event that is already seeing tickets snapped up. This will be the first screening in Nebraska.

Volunteer at Omaha Film Festival- GET PARTIES AND FREE PASSES TO FILMS!
Posted January 30th, 2011 by DJRhettMCT’was a few short weeks before the Omaha Film Festival Season!!!
The Directors and Julie were busy with good reason.
With movies all judged and scripts all read,
The lineup was ready and the judges were fed.
The filmmakers were nestled all snug in their beds,
While visions of the silver screen danced in their heads.
With Jeremy in his ‘kerchief and Marc in his cap,
Jason announced “Get up you Bums! There’s no time for a nap!”
When out on the lawn there arose such a clatter,
We sprang from our beds to see what was the matter.
Away to the window we flew like a flash,
Tore open the shutters and threw up the sash.
When what to our wondering eyes should appear,
But billboards and posters both far and near.
Come out to the party on February 5th
And hear about a contest – it’s no myth.
The International Documentary Challenge returns to Hot Docs in 2011!
Posted January 10th, 2011 by DJRhettMCNow in it’s 6th year, The International Documentary Challenge returns to the Hot Docs Canadian International Documentary Festival in Toronto. This year's challenge takes place March 3-7, 2011 with registration now open. Hot Docs dates are April 28 - May 08, 2011.
The Doc Challenge is a timed filmmaking competition where filmmakers have 5 days to make a short non-fiction film (4-7 minutes.) All of the registered participants make their films during the same time period (March 3-7, 2011) and are required send off the film by the deadline.
Filmmakers are assigned a theme (past themes include Dreams/Nightmares, Change) and must choose between 2 assigned documentary genres (such as Character Study, Music, 1st Person, etc.) These two requirements provide a challenge to filmmakers, as it will shape the content and direction their film takes.

Silicon Prairie News-Nebraska Film SERIES
Posted September 26th, 2010 by DJRhettMCFROM SILICON PRAIRIE NEWS:
http://www.siliconprairienews.com/2010/09/nebraska-film-series-highlight...
Over the past six weeks, we escaped our usual industry of focus, the tech industry, and put the spotlight on six individuals in our state's burgeoning film industry. The goal of this series, titled "Nebraska Film," was to highlight individuals, companies and organizations who are working hard to grow and establish the state as a place for independent filmmakers.
More than once, we heard comparisons of Omaha's maturing film industry to that of the city's independent music industry, which has been established in part because of the work of Saddle Creek Records. Take this quote, for example, from our interview with up-and-coming writer and director Nik Fackler:
